But that#s not all as we now have confirmation of the series being CGI.
Kurtzman and Orci, who are working on a "Star Trek" sequel and the Daniel Craig starrer "Cowboys and Aliens" on the feature side, continue to serve as consulting producers on "Fringe" and are executive producers on CBS/CBS Studios' "Hawaii 5-0," which they co-wrote with Peter Lenkov, and on the "Transformers" CG-animated series for upcoming Hasbro/Discovery channel the Hub.

Debuting later this fall Hasbro in conjunction with Discovery Communications Inc will release a new Transformers cartoon on a new TV channel currently called Discovery Kids called Transformers: Prime.
Jeffrey Combs will be the voice of Ratchet, a very well known character in the Transformers world. There are 26 episodes scheduled for the first season. Exact details of the show are currently unavailable but will be posted here as soon as they are made available.
Jeffrey is quite thrilled with the opportunity to be cast in the role of Ratchet. He's not able to talk too much about the show this early in the production but did have this quote: "What I can say is that it is an honor and a privilege to be a part of such a prestigious project."
Jeffrey Combs is known mostly for his role in acting in the horror film genre as well as playing several alien characters in the popular Star Trek franchise. In the world of cartoons, Combs has lent his voice to Scaregrow in Batman: The Animated Series and several others. Wikipedia even notes that Combs will be playing Ratchet in Transformers: Prime.
From Wikipedia.org:
Combs will be voicing Ratchet on the new animated series, Transformers: Prime which is tentatively scheduled to begin airing in the fall of 2010 on The Hub, a new channel owned by Hasbro, Inc.

The folks at Popten.net have cooked up an interesting Top Ten list. They've cultivating all of the songs related to geekdom, aiming to name the number one geek anthem of all time. Two of them are related to our Transformers Universe, one of them being Weird Al's 'Dare To Be Stupid' from Transformers: The Movie. The other song is the theme of the movie and takes the top spot on the list - The Touch by Stan Bush. You can check out how the rest of the list unfolds at Popten here. The moment we found out that Takara Tomy would take Transformers Animated under it's wing, we knew that we'd be getting a lot of merchandise. Some would be cool, while some would just be plain silly. We've got the latter this time around, as TFW2005 reports that we'll be receiving 10 Transformers Animated Spinning Tops, in similar fashion as Beyblades. The Autobots will be Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet and Prowl, while the Decepticons are Megatron, Blitzwing, Lugnut, Starscream and Black Arachnia. The tops are set for release in May, and you check out the advertisement below.
You can find the original article at TFW2005 here.

In this thread at Shout! Factory, Brian Ward has made it known that they are investigating whether or not to release the Japanese Generation 1 Cartoons - Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory - onto DVD into the states.
Brian writes: I was actually speaking to someone about this the other day. Obviously, we have a very good relationship with Hasbro and would like to pursue additional titles from their library. Without any promises, of course, are the Takara collections something you'd like to see on DVD in the States? I have all three of Metrodome's volumes, which run the gamut of quality, in terms of both animation and all-around storytelling. So is this collection, which has never officially been available in the U.S., something most Transformers fans would like to see done right? Or is it something aimed only at the hardest core fans?
Let me know.
Brian
