For some reason, Mattel has decided to make their first Transformers Hotwheels car, Bumblebee, massively shortpacked. How shortpacked? Well the 2024 mainline has 250 non exclusive cars, and they come split in 15 waves/cases throughout the year. As with most cars, Bumblebee will only appear in 2 of those waves but each time he will be 1 in 72.
That means that in each case he's in, he will be on par in rarity with the standard Treasure Hunt cars. And looking at it from an entire year's output, he will be 2 out of 1080. That makes the Hotwheels Bumblebee car the rarest standard car from the 2024 set, which is not a Treasure Hunt car.
For those unaware, Treasure Hunt cars are those which are at most 1 per case and will not repeat in a following case (so at most 1 out of 1080 if you buy every case of 72 cars in a given year).
With both Transformers fans and Hotwheels fans interested in this collectible, Bumblebee could become quite the hot commodity. Especially since this would be the very first release in a growing collection of Hotwheels Transformers cars. So, for those wondering which other cars are in the same waves as Bumblebee, we have videos of the cases below.
We've gotten new images from Club Jouet for upcoming figures in the Transformers One Toyline. Firstly we have the Robot Battlers which features a basic form of Rock Em Sock Em Robots gimmick. We can see it on the back of Alpha Trion's box where the two levers can be pinched together to have the bot rotate and attack. While we have had many toys from different line featuring a gimmick like this, all of these also transform, which is a new spin on the gimmick. While we do not see the alt modes yet for most, we do see Alpha Trion's beast mode.
We also have images of the upcoming Power Flip Optimus Prime, which has 4 modes: alt mode, Orion Pax, Optimus Prime and a Super robot mode.
Thanks to Brickclicker (who is sent tips on Lego leaks), we have the first image of the upcoming Lego Bumblebee set. This one is also said to be transformable. We can see that this is based on Bumblebee’s G1 design. The release date is July 1st 2024 and it will be going for $90 USD with 950 pieces, which is a much better price per parts ratio than we had with Optimus Prime.
Burger King has been a partner to the Transformers movies for years and it looks like they will continue this tradition with the Transformers One movie. All we have to go on so far is a post from Twitter showing a Bumblebee toy that would come in a kids meal. This doesn't transform, of course, but it does have a backpack gimmick. You can see the images of the toy below.

This is not an exclusive set, meaning that it can be purchased from any Japanese retailer. It can also be imported to Hasbro Pulse, though it is not on their site yet.

While there is no deluxe class in the upcoming Transformers One movie line, there is the Prime Changer class which is pretty close to what we'd call a deluxe, though still solely targeting kids like warrior class toys. We had seen a few images of Bumblebee and Sentinel Prime, but now we can see their alt modes. Sentinel’s looks nothing like what they show on the box so that box image may have been repurposed artwork. We have yet to see his alt mode clearly in the film.
Test screenings for the upcoming Transformers One film have already taken place. This is when a test audience is shown a film in advance so that the director and producers can get an idea of how audiences will react to the film later and if further editing should be done, depending on the points brought up by the audience.
While no one has leaked what they have seen, Grace Randoplh, who gets insider info from the movie industry through multiple sources, has gotten wind that the test screenings for Transformers One have gone "extraordinarily well". That means those who saw it responded very well to it. This is great news, since while the film may not be every fan's cup of tea, it does mean that families, the target audience, will more than likely enjoy the film. And we'll see if that translates to box office gold or not. In any case, this is an encouraging development in this phase of our beloved brand.
Grace mentioned the test screenings in her video discussing Chris Hemsworth's probable casting in the upcoming GI Joe/Transformers crossover film.

Looks like Paramount is going full steam ahead with the Transformers GI Joe crossover movie. According to Variety, Chris Hemsworth is in talks with Paramount to star in the film. Howevever, the film has yet to find a director or writer. The only people confirmed to be involved with the film are Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto & Don Murphy, who are acting as producers. Steven Spielberg and Hasbro Entertainment will executive produce.
And yes, that would make Chris Hemsworth the new face of the brand since he also voices Orion Pax/Optimus Prime in Transformers One.
