There's still the fact that she's supposed to be a Seeker but doesn't have a Seeker body.Razorbeast88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:If that preview art is anything to go by, she looks awful. And don't cite Legends Slipstream as precedent since that figure was retooled to have Seeker attributes in robot mode beyond being just a mere head swap.

I like the idea of her being a more stylized seeker instead of looking like skywarp with gray and teal, so I wouldn't have minded the windblade wings and legs. I really don't like those fluffy arm/shoulder things though. I'd have preferred new molding for torso and upper arms. A feaux cockpit chest would've been fine by me

I'm intrigued by Quake, and is that will that Soundwave be SS86? Or will we get a separate SS86 version, like we did with Blaster?
I want to see that new Straxus.

It's gonna be Buzzsaw.
They're gonna make me buy this a**hole again just to get Buzzsaw, aren't they?
Posted by Sabrblade on May 14th, 2024 @ 12:00pm CDT
At first I was thinking Blaster since he'd be Straxus's rival, but nope, Blaster had blue hands in the comics.
Posted by Nemesis Primal on May 14th, 2024 @ 12:29pm CDT
I can't tell any differences between Metalhawk in that art and the already-released version?
Quake and Motormaster look solid.
Slipstream is looking like she's gonna be ROUGH, may have to just pass and try to wait for a proper Animated update whenever they inevitably make a Starscream mold.
No interest in the Cores.
Still trying to wait out a Megazarak from that Armada Megs mold.
I don't know which thread the Straxus comments are supposed to be in right now, but he looks spectacular, they remolded way more than I had hoped for.
There's a rumor that cropped up I think within 24 hours before this that's saying a 2-pack of Flame and Xaaron, so I guess the hand would be Xaaron and the red bit would be Flame if that ends up being accurate? There's also the rumor we've had of Marvel colors Soundwave floating around for like a year now, no clue if anything's happening with that if this tease is indeed the last of the capsule.Sabrblade wrote:Straxus's box art gives us a tiny glimpse at who the fourth and final Marvel Comics-inspired figure will be, and it's someone who has yellow hands and maybe red arms?

They basically said it was something surprising that they hadn't done before and the team was shocked they were making. Bmac did say "we're adding nice new bots to the line with that final offering" so it might actually a multipack! They said the reveal would include a special guest next month (Simon Furman?).

I first thought the Velocitron Hot Rod that didnt get released, but prolly wont be. Then I thought maybe its Flame. Not sure though.
Since they were using box art, that Soundwave has new forearms in it w/o Siege stuff.

There was some of that, yeah, but I could have sworn that started because the individual who first leaked/described last year's IDW Miner Megatron also said they saw a purple Soundwave around that same time, and thusly when mystery Soundwave listing popped up some of us said "oh, so that's where that went".Sabrblade wrote:IIRC, that was more wishful thinking regarding the Leader class Soundwave.Nemesis Primal wrote:There's also the rumor we've had of Marvel colors Soundwave floating around for like a year now, no clue if anything's happening with that if this tease is indeed the last of the capsule.

Anyway,
Steeljaw looks pretty good. Might just have to get Blaster just so I have a reason to get Steeljaw.
How does the retooled grunt manage to look better in both modes than the actual character Barricade he's based off of?
Springer looks outstanding. Tons of accessories to pad out the Leader Price. but yeah the modifications to Siege actually improve him a lot.
So, not Netflix BB, but yet another new BB mold. not sure how I feel about it. Hasbro to all those Bee collectors out there: "You wanna get nuts.... let's get. nuts!". How many different g1 bee molds have we seen in the last 3 years? 7? Not even counting movie bees or gamer bees.
Straxus is fantastic. That robot mode, it's hard to tell he's a Galvatron retool, but honestly that's the only thing he could have been. Nice tease for the 4th Comic series character there.
From the space bridge, I think all I'm really looking forward to, is that Deluxe G1 Prime, and the Leader Soundwave, which should come in with a few of his tape guys to fill in that leader price. So glad they are finally releasing the Netflix retool. But that just makes it stranger that they don't re-release Netflix BB.
A shiny gold Metalhawk might be nice. We'll see.
Galvatron we already knew about. I may get him once he's discounted. I'm fairly sure, he's not that popular of a character outside of Armada die hard fans./

I honestly think it simply has to do with the licensing involved to re-use the VW mold, especially if they are going to want to repaint/retool the hell out of it. New mold with much more repaint potential and not having to pay VW seems pretty smart on their part.

What do you want to talk about?
That deluxe Prime looks good, that should've been the Hot Wheels crossover.
I don't see Skullgrin in Quake, this will be interesting.
Repaints are repaints, if you like them, yay!
I hope that Soundwave is everything we've been hoping for, no Siege bits, maybe a better blaster, throw in that double tape door from Soundblaster and we'll be good. If they do a SS86 release after this there will be BLODD!

They made it sound like the next one is the final one, but they also made it sound like there might be more than one figure thanks to Bmac's possible slip of the tongue.
I doubt we'll be seeing a new mold Soundwave next year since the Leader will still be available next year and likely even get another run in the next line. New Studio Series 86 Soundwave in 2026 for the 40th anniversary of the movie is my guess.

I have no doubt in my mind that he'll be licensed. Hasbro is very keen to keep a good relationship with VW, to the point that they put the VW logo on the back of the reissue Bumblebee figure a few years ago and this is basically an updated version of that. Heck, Missing Link Bumblebee is being touted by Takara Tomy as an officially licensed VW product, but the same isn't said about Cliffjumper. In fact they point out that CJ is 80% the same as Bee as if explaining why they didn't need to license it.

In addition to the rumor about final fourth Marvel set being a 2-pack of Xaaron and Flame, this new rumor specifies that Flame might be made from the Studio Series Gamer Edition Megatron mold.
If true, then I guess the box will be bigger than the others if one of the two figures in the set is a Voyager.
Posted by Emerje on May 14th, 2024 @ 8:38pm CDT
Have they ever said that these have to be from Marvel comics? I do agree that Flame makes the most sense, but the colors aren't in the right places (his hands aren't yellow).
Other ideas is a (couble) Unicron cultists but with more colors to break up the all gold and Marvel Primus, but again the colors are right but not in the right spots.

You snuck that in while I was typing.
So far all of the boxes have been roughly the same size and two of them contain rather large Leaders. SSGE Megatron doesn't take up a whole lot of space so I could see them fitting him into the same space in the box as Shockwave and Deluxe in the same space as the whole OP head display. No real reason to change the size of the box. Of course we're assuming Xaaron transforms at all and isn't a non-transforming figure with minimum articulation.

The more I look at that small detail the more I'm convinced that it's Rodimus, most likely without the trailer, or a comic deco of the previous SS86 Hot Rod, still called Rodimus, along with a deluxe of someone if it's indeed a 2-pack. That Hot Rod is small enough to fit into a leader-sized box with another deluxe figure, but the voyager price point and a deluxe price point together keep it at the $55-60 range.
Weren't we supposed to get a toy-colored version of that mold anyway, and it was canceled? Maybe they did him like they did Hound, and instead of actually canceling him they just put him in a set instead of released him by himself.

Hot Rod was supposed to be a Walmart exclusive and, unlike Target exclusives, those things get locked down so we'll likely never see it unless they can convince Walmart to use it later.

Except we have already seen the packaging on SS86-29 Bee and there is no licensing. I don't think Hasbro's relationship with VW has much to do with it rather $$$ and not wanting to be stuck having to license every use of the mold. No licensing requirement means more profit for themselves. The new mold also looks less like a VW Beetle than even the missing link figure, so they can defintely get away without the licensing.

Then perhaps I'm wrong. Maybe we've seen the last of Hasbro working with VW since they don't have many (any?) other opportunities coming up since the movies have moved on. Maybe that's even why Hasbro still hasn't offered the Missing Link cars yet.

Hasbro has worked with them as recently as ROTB Wheeljack, so I don't think it has anything to do with a bad relationship. Rather, I think it is simply Hasbro realizing that a new Bee mold for generations/Legacy will have numerous repaints and if they go with an alt mode that would require licensing (like the Netflix mold) they paint themselves into a corner of having to re-update any agreements before a redeco of that mold can be done.
Edit: Hasbro also just put up Missing Link Bee and Cliff and mention the VW Beetle mode in the listing, so I think things are just fine between Hasbro and VW. Hasbro just didn't want to go the license route with the SS86-29 Bee mold, which to me is a smart move if they will be doing lots of redecos.

Should probably be pointed out that Legacy Cybertron Starscream is *technically* a retool of the Siege Seeker mold since they apparently share joints. The only thing I can see in common between the Quake art and Skullgrin is the chest and back. Even he placement of the tank treads aren't the same.

Well Snarl appeared in SS86 and he was only in the movie for less than a second, no speaking lines. I don't think they will care too much, as long as they think he will sell. Not so sure Sludge ever had a speaking line either.
as for the next release of the comic book series, I think that it is Scrounge, maybe with a Blaster. the hand is at Straxus' knee and if the little yellow bit is a more exaggerated shoulder piece, that would make that bot the same height as Scrounge in the comic. (shoulder to Straxus' hip) and I read somewhere that it would be a two pack. So a Voyager Blaster and a Core Scrounge would make up the leader level of the other releases. Also Scrounge is tied to Straxus in the comic, and Blaster is a foil for both Straxus and Grimlock, so he would go well with the theme.
I am hoping that all the cassettes that they release with the new soundwave are unique. Buzzaw had better be one of them, or I will wage war. I hope the other two are Slugfest and Overkill. Probably too much to hope for, for them to be Squaktalk and Beastbox. None of those 5 have had releases in the seige and up scale.
