Would you say the same about the Jetfire mold?

Nah, they had to heavily remold the thing pull that off. But the end result of that is cool, too.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Thundercracker is who that mold should have been all along.

But the Legends figure, that's straight up Guido Guidi Thundercracker.

I like both of those ideas.Seibertron wrote:I wonder if Takara is planning a premium 3 pack of the Insecticons. I could go for that once Kickback is released (assuming we are getting him too). I also wouldn't mind the Diaclone color scheme as well!
The Diaclone one especially could serve triple duty as Diaclone homages, e-HOBBY Insecticon clones, and SG Insecticons.

Also, in our first looks at Superion they had Powerglide stuck to the top of his gun. Is that actually possible or was it just more superglue like the rest of the combined figure?

I wasn't aware that any of the Legends Class figures truly could become part of Prime's chest other than Blackjack for Menasor.
Is Powerglide able to combine with Superion's gun? Not sure ... I can check it out though!

EDIT: ok it works, but is too heavy for the elbows to hold out straight (at least on Skydive)

Well, Powerglide turns into a weapon, Thundercracker has his null rays, Bombshell has cannons on his fists, but Windcharger's got excuse (unless one counts his magnetic powers).Cobalt Prime wrote:Hmmm, why no weapons? They've got the 5 mm ports in their fists.

Stranger is that Huffer and Blackjack both have weapons included. Weird.

Well, Huffer's got Optimus's rifle since Optimus had two weapons. And Blackjack's weapon plays a part in his forming Menasor's chestplate.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Well, Powerglide turns into a weapon, Thundercracker has his null rays, Bombshell has cannons on his fists, but Windcharger's got excuse (unless one counts his magnetic powers).Cobalt Prime wrote:Hmmm, why no weapons? So true! its an amazing rendition of the artwork. We have been accustomed to this design being Thundercracker for a little while now and frankly he owns this mold/form. Even the Jetfire retool looks great. I will certainly be picking up both.

Indeed. IDW has made its version of G1 Thundercracker so compelling that I want both the Legend and the Leader.padfoo wrote:So true! its an amazing rendition of the artwork. Honorable 'Cons are always cool.

Blackjack is an all new mold in the Legends Class size, meant to be incorporated into the combined form of Menasor, as the chest piece armor. (Because Motormaster shares his mold with Optimus Prime, Prime's chest can also use Blackjack.) Whether he's just a piece of chest armor, a really killer looking vehicle, or just a robot with a bad attitude, Blackjack is a little Decepticon packin' quite a punch.
His wave mate, Huffer, is a slight remold and extensive redeco of the Generations Legends Class Optimus Prime. Unfortunately, Huffer does not come with a partner robot like Optimus did. Both figures are currently shipping from overseas retailers, trickling into US e-tailers and should be at retail very shortly.

Looks like Blackjack's combiner ports are the standard 5mm.

I thought I heard that the figure was originally supposed to be Runabout, (the head and chest do match him better), but was changed at the last minute. I'm glad they made him Blackjack, but yeah, I wish they would've went with a different face.

Oddly enough, I like faceplates. Whether or not this was supposed to be Runamuck, I'm glad it's Blackjack instead.

Huffer is an easy pass for me...there is just something about that figure that I am not into. The PCC version still works great for my collection.

I was thinking about Huffer, but... I think if I see him in-stores, I'd probably get him. But, as it stands, I don't need a third version of this mold, even if it's the most adorable thing ever.

As you can tell, I'm a faceplate kind of guy, myself.

The new Voyager figure is allegedly intended as the Decepticon counterpart to Superion in the upcoming IDW comics event Combiner Wars, though only one of the limbs is currently available for purchase, Dragstrip. It also comes with a gun and sword - which can be combined into a larger sword, new headsculpts for robot and gestalt mode, and is compatible with most Legend and Deluxe class figures from the line. I imagine that if there are none, it wouldn't be too hard to drill a 5mm hole into Blackjack's weapn there. Depending on how that works, that might decide whether or not I actually get him. What with the recent pics of MM in torso mode without him, I'll probably end up skipping him.

Also how are you getting these in hand so super early ? Are you paying crazy ebay prices from factory insiders ? Or are these promotional figures directly from Hasbro ?

In the galleries below you'll be able to take in the Aerialbot might of jets Skydive in his black and red deco with golden highlights, and of Firefly in red and white and teal, of the omnipresent Alpha Bravo, helicopter in orange, white, teal and black (potentially a Defensor limb, too) and the devious speed of yellow and purple Stunticon Dragstrip. Each with their own weapon, gestalt hand/foot and compatible with any Voyager torso. Click on any image to view the full works!

Are you sure? Skydive had lightning bolts on his wings in the cartoon, which the Takara figure has while the Hasbro figure doesn't. Though the G1 toy had them too, this just makes Takara's version both show- and toy-accurate while Hasbro is accurate to neither.Rated X wrote:I notice the Hasbro jet limbs sport more G1 cartoon accurate decos on their wings.
And Fireflight's cartoon model used its toy's blue and yellow wing stripes, but made them thinner. Hasbro's Firefly uses the toy-accurate thick stripes while Takara's Firebolt uses the show-accurate thin stripes.
And though they're not shown in these galleries, Hasbro's Air Raid uses the G1 toy's silver/red/yellow wing stripes while Takara's Air Rider uses the show model's simiplified solid white stripes.
Takara's are definitely the more show-accurate in regards to wing decos.

Im kinda going off memory of the G1 cartoon. Its not easy to find images of the alt mode cartoon images online. I dont think skydive had any blue on his tail in the cartoon like the takara version has. But the toy had some blue on the tail. That was the biggest eye grabber that made me think the takara limbs were more toy accurate. Not sure about fireflight. Were still awaiting the hasbro slingshot images.

Maybe the Tomy/Takara version will be anime accurate?

Oooh. That's a good point. It would be nice to see an anime accurate set of the Stunticons like they're doing with the Aerialbots. Oooh.

One more thing, is it okay to speculate that there will be a Wildrider version for the Tomy version instead of the pickup truck? Tomy remolded a face for Slingshot, but Wildrider, an entirely new mold?
I might be getting too far ahead of myself but since the issue of "anime" accuracy has been raised.............

Nope, if Slingshot is any indication:
1) We have a TRU listing for him
2) He's a retool of an existing non-retooled mold (Skydive and Air Raid share parts)
... we may see Wildrider as a retool of either Breakdown or Dead End.
